La Liga expert Euan McTear reckons that Tottenham would be a good fit for Barcelona midfielder Miralem Pjanic.

The Bosnian only joined the Spanish giants in a £55m deal from Juventus last summer but isn’t expected to be part of Ronald Koeman’s plans next term and is therefore available to leave the club.

Should Tottenham make Laporte a priority?

Pjanic appeared just 19 times in the league last season, making just six starts in total, and needs to be sold to raise funds for Barcelona’s budget following recent financial problems.

Nuno Espirito Santo is yet to add to his squad following his appointment last month, but Tottenham have enquired about the 31-year-old’s services, according to Spanish outlet Diario Sport.

Pjanic has previously played for Lyon, Roma and Juventus and has a great deal of experience playing at the highest level, whilst racking up exactly 100 appearances in international football.

McTear told This is Futbol that whilst the midfielder still has three more years remaining on his deal at the Nou Camp, a move away from Barcelona is the likely outcome for Pjanic this summer, with Tottenham a possibility:

“He’s another one of those players that they’re looking to move on. He’s been offered the chance to leave, and he’s turned that down apparently.

“He’s probably going to have to move on. If he does agree to that, Tottenham does seem a good fit.

“It’s hard to know what Nuno’s project is going to be like, but Pjanic is one of those veteran players that could probably suit Spurs well, so if he does move, then Tottenham is a good fit.”
