In an exclusive interview with This Is Futbol, former Tottenham defender Graham Roberts has urged Daniel Levy to stump up the cash for Sevilla’s Jules Kounde.

Kounde is thought to be a target for Tottenham this summer, with Fabrizio Romano recently claiming that the north London club are in the market for a centre-back and rate the 22-year-old highly.

According to Romano, Kounde has an €80m (£68.8m) release clause but is set to leave Sevilla for a lower fee, and Roberts is now demanding Levy to pay whatever the La Liga outfit are demanding.

Is Watkins good enough to replace Kane?

He is

He is

No chance!

No chance!

“If he’s the quality player that you want, then you have to pay the money,” the Spurs legend said to TIF. “Daniel Levy’s very shrewd, but sometimes you have to pay.

“You want top dollar for yours but you only want to pay Mickey Mouse money for the ones you want in?”

Kounde was one of Sevilla’s top performers in La Liga last season. The France international won three aerial duels per game, more than any other player in Julen Lopetegui’s squad (per WhoScored).

He also averaged 1.2 interceptions, an average only former Manchester City midfielder Fernando managed to better (1.3). So if Spurs do decide to spend big on Kounde this summer, then it looks like they could be getting a really good defender.
