Paul Stewart thinks that Brighton defender Lewis Dunk would tick several boxes for Tottenham.

Having conceded 45 times in the Premier League last season, Nuno Espirito Santo is going to need to bolster his central defensive department to improve on their seventh-place finish.

Are Tottenham a 'big club'?

He currently has four at his disposal, but Joe Rodon lacks experience, Toby Alderweireld has expressed his desire to leave the club, whilst neither Davinson Sanchez nor Eric Dier were consistent enough in 2020-2021.

Takehiro Tomiyasu is on the verge of signing from Bologna, but with Tottenham in Europe once again, one of four fronts they’ll be fighting on, another centre-back is going to be required.

Starting with a current Tottenham star. How many PL goals has Harry Kane scored for Spurs?

And Stewart exclusively told This is Futbol that Dunk would be an excellent addition:

“Dunk would be ideal. I’ve said it from the start of last season because he has impressed me, and he’s a goal threat as well.

“Not only is he a commanding centre-half, but he’s a goal threat, and they’re hard to come by.”

Dunk wouldn’t be the glamorous name that perhaps might be hoping for, but given his age and experience in the Premier League, it would be a sensible piece of business from Santo.

Not only has Dunk proven himself at this level, but the likes of Rodon and Japhet Tanganga could learn a great deal from the Brighton man.
