Carlton Palmer has exclusively told This is Futbol that Tottenham should target out of favour Man City defender Nathan Ake.

The Dutch centre-back joined from Bournemouth last August but was followed by Ruben Dias less than two months later, which saw Ake’s opportunities become non-existent.

Should Tottenham make Laporte a priority?

With both Dias and John Stones performing right at the top of their game, the 26-year-old made just nine Premier League starts, part of only 13 appearances in all competitions from Pep Guardiola’s men.

Ake did win both the EFL Cup and Premier League titles, but played just 16 minutes in the former, whilst most of his minutes in the league only came once City were focussing on the Champions League and therefore resting key players.

Starting with a current Tottenham star. How many PL goals has Harry Kane scored for Spurs?

With that in mind, Palmer has suggested that Tottenham, who’re in desperate need of at least a couple of centre-backs themselves, should look to bring the Dutchman to north London this summer.

He told This is Futbol:

“You have just got to look at the players around, Manchester City signed Ake from Bournemouth, maybe they could get him out, he’s a good centre-back.

“Why would you leave a club and go to a club where you’re not going to play?”
