Newcastle United fans on Twitter have been responding to the latest claim to emerge about Toon owner Mike Ashley and his current situation at the Tyneside club.

This comes after Newcastle-focused Twitter account @NUFC360 shared a post relaying news originally published in an article from 90Min.

Newcastle's all-time top Premier League goalscorer is Alan Shearer but how many goals did he score for the club?

The article claims that Ashley has “been left furious with the delay over their proposed takeover” after the club’s arbitration hearing with the Premier League to decide if their proposed Saudi-led takeover can go ahead, was recently delayed until early 2022.

The article also claimed that Ashley “had not planned a lot for this summer”, while the new would-be owners had plans that would likely see a change of management at the club.

This post then quickly grabbed the attention of a lot of Toon supporters, who were not shy in sharing their thoughts and feelings on this latest claim.

So, what did these Newcastle fans have to say in response to this claim about Ashley?

“This one hurts”

@NormingAbout

“This is all I want for my football club, Ashley and Bruce gone and challenging the big boys again”

@AaronCelino7

“What was his excuse for the last 14 years of not planning!!?”

@manxpie86

“We’re such a shambles”

@lucas_leitgeb

“Ashley has never had a plan…”

@RetroGamingPSN

Pure and utter nonsense #nufc”

@gavinquinlan

Looking at the replies to this post, it seems as though these Newcastle fans are disappointed but not entirely surprised to hear that Ashley reportedly doesn’t have any plans for the club this summer – presumably in terms of transfers ahead of the new season.

Are you worried for the new season?

Yes

Yes

No

No

Given how the Tyneside club are yet to bring in any new players this summer and have let go of players such as Andy Carroll, Christian Atsu and Florian Lejeune, it seems, in our view, that Ashley needs to get his act together and start focusing on getting some new faces into the squad before the start of the new season so Steve Bruce’s side aren’t involved in another relegation battle like they were in for a time last season.
