Newcastle United fans have been reacting to a claim by Lee Ryder concerning the fitness of forward Allan Saint-Maximin.

Steve Bruce’s men were held to a 1-1 draw against Rotherham United last night in a pre-season friendly, with a goal from Jeff Hendrick late on enough to see Newcastle United avoid defeat to the League One side.

Newcastle's all-time top Premier League goalscorer is Alan Shearer but how many goals did he score for the club?

Although, there were much bigger problems off the pitch before the game that caused something of a rumble amongst the Newcastle United fans, with the French forward reportedly ruled out of the game due to an ‘illness’ – something that Bruce was keen to reiterate after the game at the New York Stadium.

However, that didn’t seem to go down too well with the fans that were online, with many of them refusing to believe that he was actually in a bad condition as some felt it was a sign that he could be on his way out of the club:

“Trained yesterday no? I know people can get sick randomly obviously but it does seem suspicious doesn’t it”

“Or in truthful terms, he’s off somewhere with (more) ambition.”
“Bye bye @asaintmaximin was nice while it lasted.”
“Transfer incoming he’s made it clear doesn’t want to just survive who can blame him good luck to him #ashleyout”
“Probably sick of waiting for the takeover like the rest of us”
“Illness = transfer request”
“Panic. Everyone panic.”
“Cue mass hysteria and panic…”
“NOOOOO”
