Newcastle United fans on Twitter have been responding to the latest comments made by Amanda Staveley, the businesswoman leading the proposed Saudi-backed takeover of the Tyneside club.

This comes after Newcastle journalist Lee Ryder shared a post on his official Twitter page relaying comments made by Staveley during a recent appearance she made on Sky Sports talking about the proposed takeover.

Newcastle's all-time top Premier League goalscorer is Alan Shearer but how many goals did he score for the club?

During her interview with Sky Sports, Staveley said that she is “tenacious if nothing else,” and that she and the Saudi-based group are “not going to give up” their quest to buy the club from current owner Mike Ashley.

This post then gathered a lot of replies from a wide range of Toon supporters who were not shy in sharing their thoughts on these latest comments.

So, what did these Newcastle fans have to say in response to Ryder’s post on Staveley’s comments?

@ghodoussi yes! Amazing we needed this”

@Daniell07101064

“Give her the keys to our club right now”

@scxttnufc

“That’s the words I needed, right there.”

@sxmnufc_

““We don’t ever give up.” That’s the attitude we like.”

@ninenufc

“Omd I love her”

@JamNUFC4

“My owner”

@MclellanLuke

Looking at the replies to this post, it’s clear to see that these Newcastle fans are delighted to hear Staveley’s determination to get the takeover completed.

Are you pleased by Amanda Staveley's comments?

Taking into account how it has now almost been a full year since the proposed owners pulled out of the deal due to the ‘the unforeseeably prolonged process’ of the Premier League’s owners’ and directors’ test, it’s understandable, in our view, why these fans are glad to hear that even after all this time, Staveley and her group are still focused on getting the deal done at some point.

With the club set to go through their arbitration case at some point this month, Staveley and her group will undoubtedly be hoping that this could end up being a step forward to their ultimate goal in buying the club.
