Mark Douglas has delivered a positive update on Newcastle United’s pursuit of Joe Willock on the latest episode of Everything is Black and White.

Newcastle are still yet to make their first splash in the transfer market this summer but there has been growing confidence on Tyneside that a deal is there to be struck between the Magpies and Arsenal over Willock.

Should Newcastle sign Joe Willock?

Yes!

Yes!

No!

No!

During the early days of Willock’s loan spell on Tyneside reports suggested that Newcastle would look to sign him for £20 million, however, it now appears that a loan deal with potentially an obligation to buy next summer is more realistic.

Douglas weighed in on the Willock conversation as he dropped a fresh and positive claim.

“I think Joe Willock will sign for Newcastle personally, if you ask me, I think that deal will happen. It’ll be a loan deal with a potential obligation to buy.

“I think they’ll also bring in another loan, I think they’ll bring in two loan midfielders and I think they’ll probably sign a defender.”

TIF Thoughts on Newcastle’s pursuit of Willock…

Steve Bruce has made it clear that the club want to have Willock at Newcastle for the 2021/22 season but has always made it known that it’s Arsenal’s decision what they decide to do with Willock, whether that be to sell him, loan out the midfielder or keep him at the Emirates.

Having equalled Alan Shearer’s record of scoring in seven consecutive Premier League games for the Magpies, it would be bizarre if Bruce did not want to bring Willock back to the club and with his budget reportedly £10 million this summer, another loan deal appears to be the only option for Newcastle.

Starting with an easy one, how much did Joelinton cost Newcastle when he swapped Hoffenheim for Tyneside?

Bruce looks set to lose Florian Lejeune this summer, Andy Carroll has left the club and they no longer have Willock so the squad is already at a worse standard than it was after the final game of the season against Fulham last season.
