Journalist Samuel Luckhurst has talked about Kieran Trippier and Manchester United’s interest in the Englishman.

United are said to be interested in Trippier this summer and have already had one bid rejected for the ex-Tottenham man. While they are interested in the right-back, they now feel that the midfield is a more pressing issue, according to reports.

Do you expect United to sign Trippier?

Luckhurst appeared on the latest episode of the Manchester is Red podcast and one topic of discussion was Trippier and United’s interest in the Englishman.

The journalist claimed that if United do sign Trippier, the move will happen in late August as Atletico Madrid want the money and United need to negotiate to bring their price down.

He claimed: “That was always going to be a deal, if it does happen, it will happen in late August – purely because he’s got under a year left on his contract, there’s going to be haggling over the fee, Atletico will try and outprice United. It could get to a point where United are able to negotiate the fee down because Atletico need the money.”

TIF Thoughts on Trippier to MUFC…

Trippier can play in multiple areas on the pitch, as he can play at right-back and left-back. He recently won the La Liga with Atletico, which shows that he’s got a winning mentality and is well experienced too.

Merseyside derby, Liverpool and Everton

Who scored the opening goal in Liverpool's 4-3 win over Leeds United at Anfield in September?

He’s already played many times in the Premier League with Tottenham and Burnley and on top of that, he’s a United fan too. He may not have too many problems in getting used to Manchester as a place because he was at Manchester City as a youngster.

So if Diogo Dalot does depart United this summer, signing Trippier would be a good move. He would be a reliable signing.
