Journalist Fabrizio Romano has recently talked about the future of Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba.

It was recently reported that United have put a £50 million price tag on Pogba this summer. In France, it has been claimed that the midfielder is open to joining Paris Saint-Germain and that discussions with Mino Raiola are taking place, too.

Romano recently appeared as a guest in the latest episode on The United Stand YouTube channel and one topic of discussion was Pogba’s future. The journalist stated that there is a chance that the midfielder stays at Old Trafford beyond this summer.

He claimed: “He is thinking [about his future] but I think there are chances for Pogba to stay. I won’t say 100% because of course we are in the market and everything can happen and we have rumours about Paris Saint-Germain, they are interested but as are many other clubs.

“It’s one of the possibilities but they have chances to keep Pogba. Yes, they want to keep Paul Pogba. They want to talk with him on new contract, so they’re really trying for Paul Pogba to stay at Manchester United. Then we will see what happens.”

Pogba was an influential part of the United side in the 2020/21 campaign, as he directly contributed to 16 goals for the club in all competitions. He contributed to eight goals in the Premier League (as per Transfermarkt).

Who scored the opening goal in Liverpool's 4-3 win over Leeds United at Anfield in September?

It shows that he’s still an influential part of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side and can still contribute to goals often. Having said that, injury issues have cropped up too often in recent seasons for the player.

Because of that, it might be unlikely that other clubs pay a huge fee for him, especially since he’s now 28. Because of the injuries, United also shouldn’t pay a huge wage to the Frenchman in any new deal.
