Journalist Fabrizio Romano has recently talked about the club’s interest in signing Atletico Madrid star Saul Niguez.

United have been linked with a move for Saul in recent days as it has been stated that the Red Devils are in the race to sign the Spaniard this summer. There is even a belief at United that they can pull off the signing of the midfielder from Atletico Madrid.

Romano appeared in the latest video from The United Stand and one topic of discussion was the club’s interest in Saul. The journalist claimed that there is a possibility that United sign him, but only if Barcelona and Atletico Madrid fail to find an agreement for him.

The journalist claimed: “I’m told about Saul that it’s a possibility if the deal will collapse with Barcelona, because at the moment, Atletico Madrid and Barcelona are in a quiet moment in the negotiations. But it’s not 100% collapsed yet, from what I know.

“They’re talking and seeing what happens in the next days – if one of the two clubs will change their position. Saul is open to go to the Premier League, but at the moment, he has nothing advanced with United, or with Chelsea or with Liverpool. He knows about these three clubs [are] interested in the situation.”

TIF Thoughts on Saul to United…

Paul Pogba has been linked with a move to Paris Saint-Germain in recent days and it has been suggested that it is unlikely that the Frenchman signs a new deal with United.

This would leave a slot open in midfield for United and Saul is someone who has won multiple trophies in his career with Los Rojiblancos. He also has a lot of experience of playing in midfield for Atletico and he can add goals from midfield as well.

So if United get the chance to sign Saul, it would be a good move – especially if Pogba departs.
