Journalist Andy Mitten has recently talked about Manchester United’s transfer activity in the remainder of the transfer window.

The Red Devils confirmed the signature of Raphael Varane from Real Madrid recently and they’ve also signed Jadon Sancho from Borussia Dortmund. Their spending in the transfer window so far has now exceeded £100 million.

Mitten appeared on the latest edition of the OTB Football podcast and one topic of discussion was United’s transfers for the remainder of the transfer window.

The journalist made it clear that he doesn’t expect any more expensive signings at the club and there are players in the side who need to be sold as well.

He claimed: “I won’t be surprised if there is another player but I just cannot see a very expensive player coming in. And I think you’re going to have some of the players there, [they] would have to push their way out.”

Mitten doesn’t rule out any new signings, but he clearly suggests that United may not pay over the odds for the incomings. It might be an indication that they could yet sign Kieran Trippier by negotiating a lower price for him.

Who scored the opening goal in Liverpool's 4-3 win over Leeds United at Anfield in September?

The likes of Jesse Lingard, Brandon Williams, Diogo Dalot, Phil Jones, Andreas Pereira and even Alex Telles could reportedly be moved on if the right fee arrives for them. It shows that the club are open to a variety of sales and that will help them earn some cash.

So the Red Devils should now focus on outgoings, so that they can increase their chances of another high-profile signing before the window shuts.
