Journalist Fabrizio Romano has recently revealed the club’s priority for the ongoing summer transfer window.
The Reds have been linked with a move for Renato Sanches in recent days, with reports stating that a move might be close. They’ve also drawn links with a move for Atletico Madrid’s Saul Niguez and there has been talk that the Reds have spoken to the Spaniard’s representatives.
Romano appeared in the latest video on the Anfield Watch YouTube channel and spoke about the club’s plans for the summer window. He stated that despite links with midfielders, Liverpool’s priority is to sign a winger this summer.
Should Liverpool sign Coman?
That is because of the African Cup of Nations, which could involve both Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane later in the 2021/22 season.
The journalist stated: “Now, their priority is to go for some wingers. Because of course this season, they’re going to lose Mo Salah and Sadio Mane for some weeks because of the African Cup. So they’re looking for some potential wingers and then moving at the end of the market, maybe if some opportunity will arrive for a midfielder. So this is what I know.”
TIF Thoughts on Liverpool signing a winger…
Liverpool have been linked with a move for Bayern Munich star Kingsley Coman in recent weeks, which might be an indication that they’re looking at wingers. There has been speculation around Lille’s Jonathan Ikone, too.
