Former Liverpool man Paul Stewart has exclusively told This is Futbol that he expects midfielder Youri Tielemans to be wearing a red shirt next season.

The Belgian, who’s valued at £55m on Transfermarkt, has quickly proved himself as one of the most complete central midfielders in the Premier League.

Tielemans contributed to 15 goals in 51 appearances in all competitions last season, with the last of those that memorable winning goal against Chelsea in the final to seal the Foxes first ever FA Cup.

And Liverpool want to sign the young midfielder to fill the void left by Gini Wijnaldum, who recently departed for PSG on a free transfer.

Who has made the most appearances in Liverpool's history?

The Reds have further uncertainty in the middle of the park, with captain struggling with injuries, whilst Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain hardly featured at all last season.

Tielemans, who’s been tipped to go to the very top by former England man Paul Merson, has already proved himself as one of the best passers around, and has an eye for goal, epitomised by his stunner at Wembley.

Stewart has been massively impressed by his form for Leicester, and reckons there’s every chance he could end up at Liverpool.

He told This is Futbol:

“I think he’s quality. I know that his stock has gone up since the cup final goal, but I think he’s been quality all season and I can see him being at Liverpool before the start of next season.

“But it’s a thing with Leicester, they’re going to put his price up really high because they don’t have to sell, but if the player wants to go the only club I can see him going to is Liverpool, and I can see him in a red shirt next season.”
