Leeds United presenter Joe Wainman has been sharing his thoughts on the possibility of Whites defender, Leif Davis, potentially leaving the club during the current summer transfer window.

This comes after Wainman recently uploaded a video onto his YouTube channel where he spoke about the latest talking points concerning Marcelo Bielsa’s side.

Leeds' all-time top Premier League goalscorer is Mark Viduka but how many did he score?

After it was recently reported by Football Insider that Championship side AFC Bournemouth are in advanced talks to sign Davis on a season-long loan deal, Wainman had this to say on the matter.

He said: “It’s an interesting one when you consider the fact that he’s a left-back and we’re short in that area.

“Yes, of course, we acquired the services of Junior Firpo, he’s going to be number one, everyone gets that – but why let out Leif Davis especially when we don’t have a gluttony of left-backs at the club?

“It also tells me the fact that we don’t have many left-backs and we’re light in the area, the fact that Bielsa is saying you can move him on, says he doesn’t really fancy him.”

Leeds signed Davis back in the 2018 summer transfer window from Morecambe’s U18 side for an undisclosed fee.

Since then, the 21-year-old, who is currently valued at £720k, has made 14 appearances for Leeds’ U23 side and 14 appearances for their senior team (per Transfermarkt).

TIF Thoughts on Joe Wainman’s comments on Davis and a potential loan move to Bournemouth…

As Wainman mentioned, Leeds recently signed Junior Firpo from Barcelona as a replacement for Ezgjan Alioski, who left the club after seeing out his contract at Elland Road, which suggests to us that Davis isn’t likely to be Bielsa’s first-choice left-back moving forward.

Do you think Leeds should loan out Leif Davis?

Yes

No

No

Taking into account how Davis only made two appearances for Bielsa’s side in the Premier League last season, playing a total of just 31 minutes, perhaps a loan move to Bournemouth could be beneficial for the left-back if he is guaranteed regular playing time with the Cherries, in our view.

Meanwhile, given that he was used so sparingly last term does suggest that Leeds and Bielsa can cope with the alternative personnel they have at their disposal.
