Leeds United pundit Joe Wainman has been sharing his thoughts on the possibility of the Yorkshire club potentially making a move to sign FC Metz attacker Farid Boulaya during the current summer transfer window.
This comes after Wainman recently uploaded a video onto his YouTube channel, where he spoke about a range of topics surrounding the Whites.
After it was recently reported in a tweet by French journalist Mohamed Toubache-Ter that Leeds are interested in signing Boulaya this summer, Wainman had this to say on the matter.
He said: “If you actually look at the tweet the journalist that actually broke it, I had a look at some of the replies and genuinely, the replies are wow, if this guy goes to Bielsa, he will work wonders with him.
“So, it’s one to keep our eyes on, Farid Boulaya, an attacking-midfielder, can play off the right and as I say, a lot of the reports are coming out from very respectable journalists, so if this is one that Leeds United are certainly interested in, then we’ll get to know more over the coming days, but it’s definitely one to keep your eyes on, guys.”
Boulaya originally joined Metz back in the 2018 January transfer window from Spanish club Girona before signing to Metz on a permanent deal in the following summer window for a fee of £720k (per Transfermarkt).
Overall, the 28-year-old, who is currently valued at £4.95 million, has made 107 appearances for the French club across all competitions in which he has managed to score 14 goals and provide 18 assists along the way.
TIF Thoughts on Joe Wainman’s comments on a potential move for Boulaya…
While it seems that Bielsa is reportedly looking to increase his squad’s attacking depth with the potential move for Boulaya, we feel that adding another new defender to the squad, as they have done with the signing of Junior Firpo, would be a more necessary move for the club considering only six clubs conceded more goals in the Premier League last season than they did.
Would you take Boulaya at Leeds this summer?
However, with the journalist claiming in his tweet that Boulaya could leave Metz this summer for a fee of €4.5 million (£3.8 million) perhaps securing his signature would be a rather low-risk move that could have a big benefit for the team at such a low price.
