Leeds United fans have been responding to the latest transfer news to emerge surrounding Marcelo Bielsa’s side.

This comes after Leeds-focused Twitter account @leedsutdacademy shared a post relaying news originally shared in a tweet by journalist Paul Joyce.

Leeds' all-time top Premier League goalscorer is Mark Viduka but how many did he score?

Joyce revealed that Leeds are “close to a deal” for Wigan Athletic’s teenage midfielder Sean McGurk.

The journalist also said that a fee of around £175,000 “has been discussed” but the transfer “may yet be settled” by a tribunal.

This post then gathered a lot of replies from numerous Whites supporters, who were not shy in sharing their thoughts on this latest transfer claim.

So, what did these Leeds fans have to say in response to this latest transfer news?

“This has been going on for a while. Glad to hopefully get it done he’s a real prospect”

@VidukaEra

“Could be another great bit of business as the U23s look at building”

@scottsharpe1897

“Been a long pursuit for this lad, seems decent”

@JohnTipple1999

“This one is really exciting!”

@TheInkyShrew

“Him and Joffy jeez”

@jamesxlufc

“Quality signing!”

@NickoSlick_LUFC

“Get him in”

@RUSSELL91779006

McGurk made five appearances for Wigan’s U18 side last season in the FA Youth Cup, in which he managed to score three goals and provide one assist in the process (per Transfermarkt).

Looking at the replies to this post, it seems that these Leeds fans would be delighted to see McGurk potentially make the move to Elland Road this summer.

In our view, Leeds’ reported interest in signing McGurk this summer says to us just how much they value their youth sides and strengthening them wherever possible, even though their U23 side were crowned title winners of Premier League 2 Division 2 back in May.
