Leeds United fans have been reacting to claims surrounding a bid for Sampdoria and Denmark midfielder Mikkel Damsgaard.

Recent reports (Calcio Mercato, via Yorkshire Evening Post) have claimed that Leeds United were showing an interest in gaining the 21-year-old’s signature this summer, and now it appears as though that interest could be taking another step forward.

Can you remember where Leeds finished in these league seasons? First up: 2018/19

A report from La Repubblica (via Il BiancoNero), has claimed that Leeds United have made contact with the Italian side over his signature, with Marcelo Bielsa’s men reportedly facing some for his signature from fellow Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur.

The Serie A side reportedly want €30m (£25.6m) to make the deal happen.

Will Leeds get this deal done?

This was relayed on social media by journalist James Marshment for fans to react to, and it seemed like there were plenty of them delighted to see the come through:

“Damsgaard? Yes please. He showed at the Euros how much of a baller he is. Hesitant to trust Italian media after the debacle with Nandez, so not getting too excited atm. Would love him.”

“Please be true”
“Now this has me VERY VERY excited”
“He was looking at him in January or even earlier. Orta is second to none with his recruitment. I say pay the money”
“Perfect Bielsa player. They even have the same hairline.”
“Damsgaard and Raph though! Please let this be true James!”
“He is quality, ideal replacement for Pablo in my opinion, young skilful and definitely a Bielsa-type player”
“This would be unreal”
“I will cry”

And after 15 goals and 25 assists in his career at such a young age on top of some rather impressive performances at this summer’s European Championships, it’s hardly surprising to see them this happy at the news.

Now it’s just a case of whether or not he’ll be able to live up to the hype if they are able to complete the deal.
