Lots of Leeds United fans have been discussing a news update regarding Helder Costa that emerged on social media.

The Athletic reporter Phil Hay has recently reported about the situation of Costa, claiming that Spanish clubs are monitoring the ex-Wolves man. One interested club is Valencia, but Leeds have received no bids for the player. Questions have been raised about Costa’s future at Leeds, because of the club’s permanent capture of Jack Harrison this summer.

What did LUFC fans make of this news?

“We will take a hit on this one, probably get no more than 5 million. I think as we got stronger under Marcelo he got lost in the pace of it all. ALAW. MOT.

“I think around £8m would be good business, he served us well but isn’t quite up to the standards that we need in that position. Maybe we could use him as leverage to sign the centre-mid that we want.

“Best we can hope for is 8-10 mill.”

“He’s excellent on his day but too often he looks disinterested and allows a game to pass him by.

“Get our money back if we can, not a success story really in comparison to some. Wish him all the best though he had a few good games.

27-year-old Costa only started 13 Premier League games for Leeds last season and directly contributed to six goals for the Whites. While he clearly wasn’t a regular last season, he was more a consistent member of the side during the 2019/20 campaign in the Championship under Marcelo Bielsa.

Leeds' all-time top Premier League goalscorer is Mark Viduka but how many did he score?

So Costa’s importance at Leeds has clearly reduced since last summer and the club has been linked with a move for Daniel James. So considering that Costa isn’t an important feature of the side anymore and Leeds may have another winger lined up, it may not be a surprise if they sell the Portuguese for a lower fee than what they signed him for.
