Journalist Beren Cross has recently talked about Leeds United’s chase of goalkeeper Kristoffer Klaesson.

It was recently reported that Leeds are close to completing a move for Valerenga’s Klaesson for a fee of £1.6 million and it was stated that the young goalkeeper will fly to England this week to complete the move this summer.

Cross talked about Leeds’ move for Klaesson when he appeared in the latest video on the Leeds United Live Facebook page and one topic of discussion was likely transfers this summer for the Whites.

Should Leeds sign Klaesson?

He stated that Klaesson’s transfer looks like the most likely one for the Elland Road-based club at present. He claimed: “I think Klaesson is still talked about as the most likely to happen next. I think the Valerenga end have made no secret of the fact that talks have been ongoing with Orta and Leeds for some time. We’ll have to see.

“I didn’t see it personally, but I saw a headline in passing that it looks like he wasn’t involved in the Valerenga side. So that’s a little bit of a sign, isn’t it?. The Norwegian journalists, who are pretty good actually – the Scandinavian beat are pretty good at this stuff; they’re very close to the clubs they cover – they were suggesting that it was as advanced as Klaesson was flying into Leeds, if not already arrived.

“Nothing for certain on that, but it certainly looks like that is the most likely, of course.”

TIF Thoughts on Klaesson to Leeds…

With Kiko Casilla having departed Leeds already, the Whites may need a new back-up goalkeeper for the upcoming season.

20-year-old Klaesson might be young, but he’s already played regularly for Valerenga over the last couple of seasons. But he’s yet to play outside of Norway, which suggests that he may need time to settle into Leeds.

So having him at the club as an understudy to Illan Meslier could help him improve and potentially compete with the Frenchman in the future.
