Kalvin Phillips will only remain at Leeds United if the club continues to show progression, says former midfielder David Norris.

Phillips came through the ranks at Elland Road and has gone on to become a fan favourite.

The 25-year-old has made 211 appearances for the Yorkshire club and enjoyed his first taste of Premier League football last season.

Will Kalvin Phillips be a one-club man?

Having impressed in the top flight, Phillips was named in Gareth Southgate’s England squad for Euro 2020 and the central midfielder went on to become one of the Three Lions’ biggest success stories in the tournament.

Now with 15 international caps to his name, Phillips has been attracting interest from Premier League rivals and overseas.

Liverpool were keeping tabs on the Yorkshireman earlier this summer, along with Italian giants Juventus.

While Phillips is not interested in leaving Elland Road this summer, according to his agent Kevin Sharp, Norris maintains Marcelo Bielsa’s side must build on their impressive first campaign back in the Premier League if they want their impressive youth product to be at the club for a number of years to come.

Speaking exclusively to TIF, Norris said: “Knowing what he’s like, it could be one of them where he goes on to be a one-club player, which is rare these days.

Nice easy one to start off with, what number does Phillips wear for Leeds United?

“As long as Leeds keep showing progression and ambition, I think he’ll be happy enough.

“But it’s just whether it gets to that point where he wants to win something or move to an even bigger club.”
