Rafa Benitez would excite Everton fans by signing Tammy Abraham, according to former Toffees striker Marcus Bent.
Everton chiefs came under fire from supporters after choosing to appoint former Liverpool boss Benitez as Carlo Ancelotti’s successor last month.
However, Bent feels the ex-Real Madrid chief would show his ambition by persuading Abraham to join from Premier League rivals Chelsea.
Would Tammy Abraham be a good signing for Everton?
Yes
No
Despite netting 30 times in 82 matches for the Blues, Abraham has fallen out of favour since Thomas Tuchel replaced Frank Lampard in the Stamford Bridge hotseat in January, with him making just six Premier League appearances since.
Tuchel has defended the decision to leave Abraham out of his matchday squad regularly and it appears the striker’s future may be away from west London.
West Ham United are thought to be in pole position to sign Abraham, although Aston Villa also remain interested in bringing the frontman back to Villa Park following a fruitful loan spell in the Championship.
But Bent has urged Benitez to bring Abraham to Goodison Park.
Speaking exclusively to TIF, he said: “Would he come in and be a 20-goal-a-season player? I’m not sure.
“But what I do know is he would be someone Everton would love. He has pace, is a goalscorer, good in the air and a good finisher.”
