Everton pundit and podcaster Barry Cass has been sharing his thoughts on Toffees midfielder Jean-Philippe Gbamin and his future at the Merseyside club.

This comes after Cass made an appearance on a recent video from the Toffee TV YouTube channel, where he discussed a number of topics concerning Rafael Benitez’s side.

Who scored the opening goal in Liverpool's 4-3 win over Leeds United at Anfield in September?

On the subject of Gbamin and his future at Goodison Park, Cass had this to say on the matter.

He said: “I think if we can hopefully, please God just let him have a season where he’s fit, because I think I still feel like he could be a big player for Everton if he could stay fit because ironically, he’s exactly what we need, but he’s got to stay fit, obviously.”

Everton signed Gbamin back in the 2019 summer transfer window from German club FSV Mainz in a deal worth £25m.

TIF Thoughts on Barry Cass’ comments on Gbamin and his future at Everton…

Since arriving at Goodison Park, the 25-year-old, who is currently valued at £13.5 million, has only made three appearances for the club as a result of him picking up three serious injuries, including a hamstring injury, an Achilles tendon rupture and a medial collateral ligament injury.

Are you confident Gbamin will have a big season with Everton?

Given how the midfield man has missed a total of 86 games for Everton due to his injuries according to Transfermarkt, it’s understandable why Cass is hopeful that Gbamin will be able to regain his fitness for next season so he can potentially get his Everton career underway on a consistent basis.

In our view, it would be great to potentially see Gbamin get some regular playing time at Everton next season and put his injury nightmares behind him.
