Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano has been speaking on Robbie Lyle’s YouTube channel to discuss all things transfer-related.

One name which was discussed by the transfer insider was Everton’s Brazilian forward, Richarlison.

Should Everton sell Richarlison this summer?

The 24-year-old has been linked with a potential summer switch to Real Madrid following Carlo Ancelotti’s switch from Goodison Park to the Bernabeu last month.

Richarlison joined the Toffees in 2018 from Watford for an initial fee of £35m and is currently valued at £49.5m by Transfermarkt.

Discussing the Brazilian’s future on Merseyside, the Italian football journalist had the following to say on the matter.

“What I’m told is that Rafa Benitez is directly working with the player to talk with him and to tell him to stay at Everton for one more season [and be part of] the Everton project, so they want him to stay and Everton are fighting to keep Richarlison.”

TIF Thoughts on Richarlison’s future…

Romano’s words appear to suggest Richarlison is heading out of Everton unless the club can persuade him to stick around this summer – so there could be big changes ahead for the club in the near future.

If we were to assume Everton would seek to make a profit on Richarlison – whose fee could reach as high as £50m – we would question what the Toffees could do with that kind of money if they were to sanction the sale of the 24-year-old.

In the 2020/21 Premier League campaign, Richarlison netted seven times and provided three assists which, in our opinion, does not match the forward’s price tag.

Richarlison still has three years remaining on his deal, which could give the Toffees another season to consider potentially selling him and still be in a good position to move him on for an adequate fee.
