Wolves winger Adama Traore could have been a good fit for Crystal Palace, says former Premier League midfielder Carlton Palmer.

According to journalist Dean Jones, recently speaking on Touchline Talk, Traore had been identified as a target by Nuno Espirito Santo when he was in talks with Palace to become their new manager.

Jones also stated that it was a transfer Palace were willing to pursue. But with talks between Palace and Nuno collapsing and the south London club since turning to Patrick Vieira, their interest seems to have ended.

For Palmer, if that one had gone through, it would have been good for Palace. Asked by TIF whether Traore is the kind of winger who could have taken some of the pressure off Wilfried Zaha, the ex-Leeds United player said:

“He’s very inconsistent but what he does bring is a lot of energy and a lot of pace. He could’ve been a good fit for Crystal Palace, a very good fit.

“The pressure has to be taken off Zaha, because he does carry a big burden for Crystal Palace and he’s a very talented player. Somebody like a Traore would’ve been a good move.”

While Traore moving to Palace looks unlikely, his future may still very well be away from Molineux. He has just two years remaining on his Wolves contract and continues to be linked with other clubs, including Champions League winners Chelsea.
