Speaking on the latest HLTCO podcast, Dan Cook spoke about how Crystal Palace could sign Odsonne Edouard.

There had been reports earlier this summer that Leicester City were lining up a move for Celtic’s Edouard, however, the Foxes decided to bring in Patson Daka instead – and now it appears that Palace could be in the hunt for the striker.

Will Patrick Vieira still be Crystal Palace's manager at the end of the season?

The Guardian has reported that Patrick Vieira could be looking to add Edouard to the ranks at Selhurst Park and with the striker now in the final year of his contract, there could be a deal to be struck between the clubs.

Speaking on the interest in Edouard, Cook gave his thoughts.

He said: “The other transfer link that has sort of arisen a little bit further over the last 24 hours in relation to Palace is that of Odsonne Edouard from Celtic. We are a longtime admirer of the frontman, he’s been on Palace’s shortlist for quite some time now.

“There is another slight aspect of this that has to be taken into account, and that is the presence of Saïd Aïgoun on our coaching staff.

“He worked with Odsonne Edouard at PSG’s academy, and given the fact that Odsonne Edouard is still only 23, I’m sure he is desperate to make a mark in European football to a greater extent than he has managed to already.

“I’m not suggesting for an absolute fact that he will end up joining, I think there’s still a lot of water to pass under the bridge.

“But everything being as it should be, we could well be in a situation where a bid is reluctantly accepted, if indeed Odsonne Edouard, on a personal level, implores Celtic to do so.”

TIF Thoughts on Palace’s interest in Edouard…

Edouard has been plying his trade in Glasgow since 2017 and has netted at least 14 goals in every SPFL season since he joined on a permanent deal, and considering the Frenchman has over four seasons’ worth of domestic and European experience at just 23 years old, he seems like a great signing on paper.

Crystal Palace fan? We bet you can't get 100% on this Palace 19/20 season quiz. We'll start off with an easy one... Which side did Palace face on the opening day of the 19/20 Premier League season?

Last season, Palace ended up finishing 14th in the Premier League and were relatively comfortable in avoiding relegation, so being able to bring in yet another young player, alongside recent recruits Michael Olise and Marc Guehi, Palace would certainly be going about it in the right way to build for the future and take some pressure off the shoulders of Wilfried Zaha.
