Aston Villa value Liverpool target John McGinn at £50m, says Express & Star journalist Luke Hatfield.

McGinn is said to have caught the attention of Jurgen Klopp, with The Athletic claiming that the Reds have a real interest in the 26-year-old midfielder.

The same outlet also states that for Villa to even entertain the idea of selling McGinn this summer, interested parties would have to come to the table with an offer of around £45-50m.

And Hatfield has also suggested that £50m is the sort of money the Midlands club would be looking for if they were to sanction a transfer in the current window.

“The price tag of 50 million is an interesting one,” the Aston Villa journalist said in a chat with TIF. “A lot of football fans reacted to that saying, ‘He’s never worth that kind of money.’

“Ultimately, it’s a value that Villa have dictated on the player, that he’s that important to Villa.”

It is a lot of money, but even so, it is not hard to imagine Liverpool moving for a player like McGinn this summer.

The 2019/20 Premier League champions have just lost Gini Wijnaldum, who recently joined Paris Saint-Germain on a free transfer after his contract at Anfield expired.
