Dean Jones has spoken about Alexandre Lacazette’s Arsenal future on the latest episode of The Football Terrace’s The Done Deal Show.

Lacazette, who is valued at £25.2 million (as per Transfermarkt), was a big-money signing in 2017 when the Gunners brought him in from Olympique Lyonnais and has managed to net 65 goals in 170 appearances, which is arguably not a great return for a £47.7 million outlay.

Should Arsenal sell Lacazette?

Yes!

Yes!

No!

No!

Arsenal failed to deliver last season after beating beaten in the Europa League semi-finals as well as failing to qualify for European football altogether, not even being good enough for the newly-formed Europa Conference League.

Jones delivered a fresh update on what Arsenal have planned for Lacazette this summer.

“I know a lot of focus is also going into how they can get Lacazette out of the club. They’re really struggling with that.

“There’s no takers, there’s no enquiries, there’s no offers, nothing. Lacazette is somebody that I think that they feel would be better off moved on.”

TIF Thoughts on Lacazette’s future…

According to Spotrac, Lacazette is the club’s fourth-highest-paid player at just over £180,000 per week, which will surely be a huge factor behind why the Gunners are apparently so eager to get him off the books as that amount of wage space could help when bringing in potential targets such as Ben White and Aaron Ramsdale.

Lacazette may have stronger competition for starts next season, as with Eddie Nketiah now more experienced with a season of being an understudy under his belt, the Englishman may be handed more league starts than the four he got last campaign.

In what month did Mikel Arteta take over as the Arsenal boss?

Mikel Arteta appears to be getting some serious backing this summer as he looks to mould his squad into how he wants it to look having already spent £22.95 million and looks set to splash a potential £80 million on White and Ramsdale alone – so with the absence of European football, some outgoings to fund these dealings would not be surprising.
