Journalist Charles Watts has recently talked about Arsenal’s interest in signing Ruben Neves this summer.

It has been previously stated that Neves is high up on Arsenal’s list of potential summer targets and Wolves are also willing to sell the Portuguese midfielder.

Watts appeared in the latest video on his YouTube channel and talked about whether Arsenal have made any progress in their attempt to sign the Wolves star. The journalist claimed that talks haven’t yet progressed since informal talks were held earlier this summer.

Watts talked about Neves amid talk of Granit Xhaka moving to Roma and stated: “I’m not sure you look at [Albert Sambi] Lokonga as that man-for-man replacement for [Granit] Xhaka given his age, given his relative lack of experience. I know he’s quality, I know he’s got a lot of potential, but still, you need a more experienced player, I think, to come in alongside Thomas Partey in the central midfield next season for Arsenal.

“And there will be someone coming in, maybe it will be Ruben Neves, I’ve talked about that interest in him before. Not really progressed since the informal talks with Wolves about him, but you never know.”

TIF Thoughts on Neves to Arsenal…

According to FBRef, Neves comes across as a midfielder who is good at progressive passing and a lot of things point at him being a technical midfielder. He also stands out when it comes to making tackles and winning the ball back.

In what month did Mikel Arteta take over as the Arsenal boss?

Considering he is still 24 and Wolves could reportedly let him go for a fee of around £35 million, signing him could be a sensible move. He offers Premier League experience and excels technically and defensively, so Arsenal shouldn’t hesitate to make a move for the midfielder, in our view.
