Journalist Charles Watts has recently talked about Arsenal’s interest in Wolves midfielder Ruben Neves.

The Gunners have been linked with a move for Neves over the last few weeks and they are understood to be admirers of the midfielder. Contact has previously been made between the two clubs regarding a possible move for the Portuguese.

Watts was talking about Arsenal’s interest in Neves when he appeared in the latest video on his YouTube channel. The journalist stated that Wolves’ asking price happens to be an issue for the Gunners and that move hasn’t proceeded in any way yet.

The journalist claimed: “[Manuel] Locatelli is obviously one of those players on the list – I’ve mentioned it before, Ruben Neves is another. But that money for Ruben Neves that Wolves are looking for at the moment – £35 million – is a bit of an issue. That hasn’t really moved forward too much from the talks that they’ve had with Wolves about him.”

TIF Thoughts on Neves to Arsenal…

Neves is still 24 and he’s got loads of experience of playing in the Premier League already, having also plied his trade in the Championship with Wolves.

But as Watts mentions, Arsenal may not be able to pay the required fee for him, so they’d have to rely on potential sales to sign him. Granit Xhaka has been linked with a move to Roma and if the Swiss midfielder leaves, Arsenal would get some money to sign Neves.

On top of that, the Portuguese could replace Xhaka in midfield and he could be a long-term replacement, so Arsenal may have to wait before they could sign the player if they wish to take negotiations further.
