Journalist Charles Watts has recently talked about the future of Granit Xhaka and whether he’ll leave Arsenal this summer.

Xhaka has been linked with a move to Roma in recent weeks and it has been reported recently (Sky Italia, via that the move has ‘stalled’, with Gunners wanting a fee of £17.5million to part ways with the midfielder.

The Swiss star is said to be eager to join Jose Mourinho in the Italian capital this summer.

Watts provided some details about the situation surrounding Xhaka when he appeared in the latest video on his YouTube channel. He stated that Roma are yet to pay up for Xhaka and as a result, the midfielder could return to the ’s training ground soon enough:

Should Arsenal sell Xhaka?

“Granit Xhaka to Roma, that still hasn’t happened. Roma still haven’t put in a bid that is acceptable for Arsenal. Granit Xhaka has been on holiday for a while now as well because Switzerland went out [of the European Championship] a while ago, so it won’t be too before he’ll be due to report back to London Colney, which just a few weeks ago didn’t look like that was certainly going to be happening.

“But if Roma don’t put the money up and don’t pay up, then that could end up happening.”

TIF Thoughts on Xhaka’s future…

Arsenal seem to be close to signing Albert Sambi Lokonga from and they’re also interested in Sassuolo’s Manuel Locatelli. They’ve also been in touch with Wolves regarding a move for Ruben Neves. It shows that they were already looking at potential ways to replace Xhaka, with the midfielder very much looking like he was heading for the exit door at the Stadium.

Who scored the opening goal in Liverpool's 4-3 win over Leeds at Anfield in September?

The Swiss midfielder may have been a regular part of the Arsenal side over the last few years, but his WhoScored ratings over the last two seasons haven’t been great. Both Neves and Locatelli are younger midfielders and if they replace Xhaka with one of them, it could be a case of building for the future.
