Journalist Charles Watts has recently talked about Albert Lokonga and whether the midfielder will be involved in pre-season training.

It has been reported that Arsenal are close to agreeing a deal to sign Lokonga from Anderlecht this summer and it has been suggested that preparations are ongoing for a medical too. The player has been said to be on Arsenal’s radar for a while (as per The Athletic).

Watts appeared on the latest edition of his show where he talked about the potential signing of Lokonga and whether he can be part of Arsenal’s pre-season squad for their trip to Scotland, explaining that there might be some difficulties in that being a possibility:

He said (2:00): “There had been suggestions he might be flying straight to Scotland to the training camp, I was told yesterday it was very highly unlikely he was going to be involved in that, just because of the whole issues with quarantine.”

TIF Thoughts on Lokonga’s involvement in the training camp…

Arsenal could yet lose Granit Xhaka to Roma this summer, which suggests that the Gunners would need a potential replacement for the midfielder soon. And Lokonga could be that player, considering that he’s a midfielder too.

So it is important to make sure that they have Lokonga involved with the team as soon as possible. He would be able to start the season in a fit condition and that will only help Arsenal. Getting Lokonga to train with his teammates should be a priority for the Gunners.

The squad has already left for the training camp in Scotland, reducing the chances of Lokonga joining them. But considering that the midfielder already a fair bit of experience with his former club, he could’ve added some cover in the friendly games.
