Arsenal journalist Charles Watts has been sharing his thoughts on the latest news concerning Gunners left-back Kieran Tierney.

This comes after Watts recently uploaded a video onto his YouTube channel where he spoke about a range of subjects concerning the north London club.

Who scored the opening goal in Liverpool's 4-3 win over Leeds United at Anfield in September?

After it was recently reported that Tierney had cut his summer holidays short in order to join up with the rest of his teammates on their pre-season tour of Scotland ahead of their match against Rangers on Saturday, Watts had this to say on the matter.

He said: “Of course he’s going to do that, he’s a Celtic boy, [an] opportunity to play Rangers, he’s not going to miss that, is he?

“And it appears like he might get some sort of runout in that game at Ibrox, which is great to see.

“It’s just typical Kieran Tierney, isn’t it, cutting short your holiday to come back and link up with the squad early doors, it’s just what he does, it’s why he’s so popular and why, hopefully, if he stays injury-free this season, he’s going to be such a key, key part of this squad for Mikel Arteta.”

As Watts mentioned in his video, Arsenal signed Tierney from Scottish club Celtic back in the 2019 summer transfer window for a fee of £24.3 million.

Since then, the 24-year-old, who is currently valued at £28.8 million, has made 62 appearances for the Gunners across all competitions in which he has managed to score three goals and provide nine assists in the process (per Transfermarkt).

TIF Thoughts on Charles Watts’ comments on Tierney…

With the defender cutting his holiday short so he can be a part of the club’s pre-season period, this says to us just how keen Tierney is to help his team and get back to fitness so he can be prepared for the 2021/22 season, which is great to see.

Is Kieran Tierney Arsenal's best defender?

Given how only four Arsenal outfield players played more minutes than Tierney in the Premier League last season shows just how important he is to Arteta and how significant he could be for them moving forward, as Watts claimed in his video.

However, with the club recently signing left-back Nuno Tavares, Tierney will have to make sure the quality of his performances don’t drop or else he could find himself out of the team behind Tavares.
