West Bromwich Albion fans have been reacting to claims surrounding the future of defender Kyle Bartley.

The 30-year-old, set to enter his fourth season at the club, has certainly had an eventful time at The Hawthorns since his move from Swansea City in the summer of 2018; reaching the play-off semi-final in his first season at the club, following that up with promotion the next season, with relegation from the top flight in the most recent campaign after that.

Who scored the opening goal in Liverpool's 4-3 win over Leeds United at Anfield in September?

He was actually one of West Brom’s best performers in the division last season, ranking fourth in their WhoScored rankings, even though they conceded the most goals in the division.

And his performances clearly did enough to impress some top-flight clubs, with Crystal Palace and Newcastle United reportedly showing an interest in signing him, however according to Birmingham Live, the Baggies are dead against the idea of selling him this window.

This news was relayed to fans by @WBAReport on social media for them to react to, where the news was met with a mixed response. Some fans were happy to see him reportedly set to stay, whilst others felt that he needed to be moved on:

“Made my day”

“Yessss”
“Leader at the back. Play him central with Clarke one side and one of Ajayi, O’Shea, Furlong even the other. Quality”
“Unless he signs a new contract he has to be sold”
“Sell him!! he’s part of one of the worst defensive setups I’ve seen in years up The Hawthorns.”
“As I’ve said before, his Dad would prefer him to go as he doesn’t think he gets the credit from our fans. Also, if we concede, he is the scapegoat most of the time.”

Do you think West Brom should offer Bartley a new contract?

Yes

Yes

No

No

Although, as the transfer window carries on, there’s still plenty of time for that view to change, especially if someone waves enough money in front of their faces.
