West Brom’s board will not be happy with Al Hilal’s reported bid for Matheus Pereira, says the Express & Star‘s Luke Hatfield.

According to journalist Ekrem Konur, the Saudi Arabian side recently made an initial offer of €7m (£6m) for the player.

Pereira was probably West Brom’s star performer in the Premier League last season, doing his best to try and keep the Midlands club in the division.

Are Al Hilal having a laugh?

Absolutely

Absolutely

No, fair offer

No, fair offer

In 33 appearances, the 25-year-old scored 11 goals and provided six assists, making it no surprise that sides are interested in him.

However, Al Hilal or any other team interested in Pereira will have to pay a lot more than £6m, according to Hatfield.

I don’t think they’ll be happy if that offer is in fact true,” the West Brom journalist told TIF. “They value Matheus Pereira very highly and rightly so. He was the best player for them last season, maybe Sam Johnstone’s a close second.

“An offer of six to eight million is way, way too low for a player of Matheus Pereira’s quality. Albion will value him very highly like I said, 25 million plus for him.”

Given his quality, a £6m bid is never going to float. You also have to question whether Pereira would even want to play in Saudi Arabia at this stage of his career. All in all, this looks like a non-starter.
