West Bromwich Albion fans have been reacting to the latest news and rumours involving the Baggies as new manager Valerien Ismael provided an update on the futures of Matheus Pereira and Sam Johnstone.

Supporters of the Baggies turned to Twitter to react to a tweet by Express and Star reporter Joseph Masi, who provided a link to an article discussing Valerin Ismael’s comments during his first press conference as the new Baggies boss.

The big talking point from Ismael’s press conference were his comments on Pereira and Johnstone, who have both been linked with a move away from The Hawthorns this summer, as the Baggies boss said it was his ‘expectation that they leave’.

Masi’s tweet and Ismael’s quotes gathered a lot of responses from fans…

““But I don’t need the best players, I need the right players for the right positions” – what a massive statement from Valerien Ismael there “

If the case and they do go, then the right money needs to exchange hands. £20 mill and at least £30 mill for Johnstone and Pereira respectively #WBA

“Why do we have to sell Pereira. 3 years left on his deal?”

Judging by the responses to the tweet, some Baggies fans are disappointed by the news, but in spite of this, many of them expected it and appreciate Ismael’s honesty.

Following their relegation to the Championship, rumours have surrounded the pair, linking them both with a move away from The Hawthorns, as they were both important players for the Baggies last season. Johnstone picked up both the Players’ Player of the Year award and Fans’ Player of the Year awards last term, whilst Pereira scored 11 goals and provided six assists for the Black Country side in the top flight last season.
