West Brom fans have been on social media reacting to the latest news and rumours that surround the football club.
This comes as West Brom reporter for the Express and Star, Joseph Masi, tweeted to announce that the signing of Barnsley captain Alex Mowatt is close to completion.
This was picked up by many fans of the Baggies, who shared their thoughts on the potential signing…
“Top signing. Easily one of the best centre mids in the division. Considering he’s on a free, surprised some bottom-half Prem teams haven’t come in for him, especially those who’ve just gone up.”

Should the midfielder complete the deal, he will be reunited with his former boss Valerien Ismael, who was announced as the new West Brom manager recently.
The deal for the midfielder is a free transfer, though the Baggies are to pay their league rivals £2m in compensation, as the Tykes announced that Mowatt’s contract had expired after being unable to reach an agreement for a new deal, despite a successful season for the Barnsley skipper, as the club made the Championship play-offs, only to be defeated by Swansea City in the play-off semi-final.
The 26-year-old recorded an average WhoScored match rating of 6.93 for his performances last season as he started every single Championship fixture for Barnsley as the club finished 5th.
The Doncaster-born midfielder came through the academy at Leeds and signed for Barnsley in January 2017. Mowatt scored 8 goals and provided 7 assists for the Tykes last season in 52 games across all competitions, and it looks like he has earned a move to the Baggies, who will be looking to achieve promotion straight back up to the Premier League.
Judging by these reactions, Mowatt may well play a big part in getting them there.
