Sheffield Wednesday fans on Twitter have been reacting to the latest news to emerge concerning Owls midfielder Josh Windass.

This comes after Wednesday journalist Dom Howson shared a post on his official Twitter page revealing that Windass suffered a hamstring injury during the club’s recent pre-season friendly match against Championship side West Bromwich Albion.

Howson also revealed that Windass was “poised to undergo a scan” to work out the extent of the injury, before adding that it would be a “huge blow” for the club if he was not fit for the start of their upcoming 2021/22 League One campaign.

This post then grabbed the attention of a lot of Owls supporters, who were not shy in sharing their thoughts on the situation.

So, what did these Wednesday fans have to say in response to this news about Windass from Howson?

“Pain”

@League1Tour

“Wednesday to a tee!!!”

@watto1867

“Oh great, new season, new set of players and the same old luck with injuries”

@BenCoat05926522

“I don’t wish any player to be out through injury BUT if he was injured for the start of the season, would this give us more chance of keeping him until January at least?”

@thejackson

“Highlights the need to get a proven striker in”

@uptheowls76

“One positive might put potential buyers off”

@tprowl

Looking at the replies to this post from Howson, it seems as though the majority of these Wednesday fans are disappointed to hear this news of Windass’ injury, whereas others think this could help the club keep hold of the player after being previously linked with a move away from the club.

Is Josh Windass Wednesday's best player?

Yes

Yes

No

No

In our view, given how Windass ended Wednesday’s 2020/21 Championship campaign as their top goalscorer with nine goals and their joint-highest assist provider with five assists to his name, it’s easy to see why Howson and some of these responding fans think he would be a big miss for the team if he were to miss the start of the season.
