Leeds United presenter Joe Wainman has been sharing his thoughts on the possibility of the Yorkshire club making a potential move to sign FC Midtjylland midfielder Jens Cajuste this summer.

This comes after Wainman recently uploaded a video onto his YouTube channel, where he spoke about the latest news topics surrounding Marcelo Bielsa’s side.

Leeds' all-time top Premier League goalscorer is Mark Viduka but how many did he score?

After it was recently reported by Swedish outlet Expressen that Leeds are one of the Premier League clubs interested in signing Cajuste this summer, with The Athletic claiming that his Danish club want around €15 million (£12.8 million) for the midfielder, Wainman had this to say on the transfer talk.

He said: “[Cajuste is a] young, Swedish midfielder, played in the Euros, he’s known for his all-action and tough-tackling style of play, and he’s got attributes that would suit Leeds United’s high-intensity style of play down to the ground.

“So, look, if we can’t get Conor Gallagher, if we’re not going to go for Yangel Herrera, then this is the next best option, for me.

“And at that price, and it’s a permanent deal, and he’s a 21-year-old – it makes sense to me over maybe Conor Gallagher.”

Cajuste signed to Midtjylland back in the 2018 summer transfer window from Swedish club Orgryte IS for a fee of £153k.

Since then, the 21-year-old, who is currently valued at £4.5 million according to Transfermarkt, has made 69 senior appearances for Midtjylland in which he has managed to score two goals and provide two assists along the way.

TIF Thoughts on Joe Wainman’s comments on a potential Leeds move for Cajuste…

As Wainman mentioned, Leeds have also had their eye on other midfield targets this summer such as Conor Gallagher, Yangel Herrera and Teun Koopmeiners, which suggests to us that midfield is an area that they are very much looking to strengthen.

Would you rather see Leeds sign Cajuste over Conor Gallagher?

In our view, we feel that despite what Wainman said in his video, perhaps Gallagher would be the best bet for Leeds this summer as he has some experience of playing in the Premier League, with a total of 30 appearances to his name from last year’s spell at West Bromwich Albion.

However, if Leeds would be able to sign Cajuste on a permanent deal this summer for a fairly low transfer fee, then perhaps this could be the better long-term option for them.
