This comes after Wainman recently uploaded a video onto his YouTube channel, where he spoke about the latest news topics concerning Marcelo Bielsa’s side.

Leeds' all-time top Premier League goalscorer is Mark Viduka but how many did he score?

After it was recently reported that Gallagher had chosen to join fellow Premier League side Crystal Palace on a loan deal rather than Leeds, Wainman had this to say on the matter.

He said: “I just think he’d have been a great addition to this Leeds United side, and I was disappointed to find out that he’d chosen Palace, and for me, it lacks ambition.

“For a kid of his age to not want to work under Marcelo Bielsa, I think is a madness.”

Gallagher, who is a product of Chelsea’s youth academy, has had previous loan spells at club’s including Charlton Athletic, Swansea City and most recently, West Bromwich Albion during the 2020/21 campaign.

The 21-year-old, who is currently valued at £13.5 million, has not yet made a senior appearance for the west London club (per Transfermarkt).

TIF Thoughts on Joe Wainman’s comments on Gallagher and his potential move to Palace…

Given how disappointed Wainman seems to be about the possibility of Gallagher reportedly snubbing a move to Elland Road in order to join Patrick Vieira’s side this summer, this says to us just how much he admires the midfielder and how good he thinks he could have been under Marcelo Bielsa’s management.

Would you be disappointed if Leeds missed out on Gallagher this summer?

Yes

No

No

Taking into account how there were only five other outfield players that started more than one Premier League game last season that earned a higher overall rating than Gallagher (6.63/10) according to WhoScored, this, in our view, backs up why Wainman would have liked to have seen what Gallagher could have been like under Bielsa’s guidance for a full season, having a full top-flight campaign under his belt last term.

Also, given how current Leeds midfielders Kalvin Phillips and Mateusz Klich had some injuries last season, perhaps adding Gallagher to their squad this summer would have been a smart option just in case they have any more injury issues in the forthcoming campaign.

Moving forward, if Gallagher does end up going to Palace, it will be intriguing to see how he gets on at Selhurst Park, and whether Leeds may regret missing out on him.
