Leeds United fans on Twitter have been responding to the latest transfer news to emerge concerning the Yorkshire club.

This comes after @leeds_utd_news shared a post on their page relaying news originally published in an article from Olympique Et Lyonnais.

Leeds' all-time top Premier League goalscorer is Mark Viduka but how many did he score?

The article claims that Leeds have made an offer of €12 million (£10 million) to French club Olympique Lyon for Maxwel Cornet but that the offer is short of what the club would be willing to accept.

This post then gathered a number of replies from Leeds supporters, who were not shy in sharing their thoughts on this latest claim.

So, what did these Leeds fans have to say in response to this transfer news about Cornet?

“12 is the magic number for signing bargains these days, Victor you know what to do lol”

@Conor_Smithy

“I think it’s because he’s so versatile, could be a Costa replacement as well if he’s to leave”

@JohnTipple1999

“Would he a great signing.”

@rq_hawk

“Is this for real ?”

@pipgunrun247

“Only currently playing at left-back as his club manager played Cornet there due to injuries to other players. He’s actually right-footed and has played most of career as an attacking player so versatile and would be great addition”

@stevenmparker

“Got experience at LM, CF, LB, LW, RW. 62 G/A in 175 games as either LW, RW,CF.”

@LunchTodd

“Yeah they want more £18-£20million”

@MattyTricker

Looking at the replies to this post, it seems that the majority of these Leeds fans would be happy to see Cornet potentially make a move to Elland Road this summer.

Would you like to see Cornet sign to Leeds this summer?

No

The 24-year-old, who is currently valued at £10.8 million according to Transfermarkt, has made 251 senior appearances for Lyon across all competitions, in which he has managed to score 51 goals and provide 29 assists along the way.

In our view, while Cornet predominantly plays as a left-back these days and taking into account how the Leeds have reportedly secured a deal for Junior Firpo, the fact that Cornet has played on both wings shows that he could well be a useful and versatile squad player for Marcelo Bielsa if the club end up signing him.
