Leeds United fans on Twitter have been responding to a recent post to emerge concerning Whites attacker Joe Gelhardt.

This comes after Leeds journalist Graham Smyth shared a post on his official Twitter page that contained an article he wrote for the Yorkshire Evening Post about Gelhardt.

Leeds' all-time top Premier League goalscorer is Mark Viduka but how many did he score?

In the article, Gelhardt said that he is happy for a decision over whether he will play as a centre-forward or as number 10 down to Leeds manager Marcelo Bielsa.

This post then gathered a number of replies from Leeds supporters, who were quick to share their thoughts on the matter.

So, what did these Leeds fans have to say in response to Smyth’s post about Gelhardt?

“He could save Leeds millions mot”

@RobertBenn57

“More 9 than 10”

@LJenko85

“Just want to see him play!”

@JamesPearson25

“This lad is the real deal I think he will play either but there is no doubting his ability I think Leeds are getting very excited about the possibilities MOT”

@Douglass1John

“Probably shove him in net now”

@joshua_purnell

“Wonder who will break into first team from 23s this year.”

Looking at the replies to this post from Smyth, it seems that the majority of these Leeds fans are quite excited to see what the future could hold for Gelhardt at Elland Road.

Do you think Gelhardt is ready to play for the senior Leeds side?

Yes

Yes

No

No

Given how the 19-year-old managed to score 11 goals in 16 league appearances for Leeds’ U23 side last season, this suggests to us that he could well be ready to make the step up to their senior side.

However, with Gelhardt playing in a number of attacking positions for the U23s last term, it’s understandable as to why there is some speculation about what his best position could be moving forward.

In our view, if Bielsa thinks Gelhardt is ready to be a regular senior squad player for Leeds next season, perhaps the fact that he is capable of being versatile could be seen as a positive rather than having Bielsa pick just one set position for him to play in.
