Marcelo Bielsa loved Brighton defender Ben White and has an interest in the player, says former Leeds United star David Norris.

White played under Bielsa during the 2019/20 season, helping Leeds win promotion and finally return to the Premier League.

The 23-year-old returned to Brighton after that loan spell and was subject of interest once again from the Whites, who went on to have three bids rejected as they tried to sign him permanently.

Ultimately, from Norris’ point of view, White is a player Bielsa loved and has a massive interest in.

“He loved him,” the ex-Leeds midfielder said in an exclusive interview with TIF. “To put three bids in, there’s obviously a massive interest there.”

Unfortunately for Bielsa, though, a reunion with the England defender looks highly unlikely.

While Leeds are interested in signing White, according to journalist Duncan Castles, the Brighton man looks set for north London.

Sky Sports are reporting that Arsenal are in advanced talks with the Seagulls to sign the player in a deal that could be worth in excess of £50m.

So while White did enjoy a great spell under Bielsa, racking up just under 50 appearances in all competitions during his time at Elland Road, that love story now looks to be fully over if it was not already.
