Leeds United podcaster Joe Wainman has been sharing his thoughts on the possibility of the Yorkshire club making a transfer move to sign Sampdoria and Denmark winger Mikkel Damsgaard.

This comes after Wainman recently uploaded a video onto his YouTube channel where he spoke about a range of topics concerning Marcelo Bielsa’s side.

Leeds' all-time top Premier League goalscorer is Mark Viduka but how many did he score?

On the subject of Damsgaard, who has been linked with a move to Elland Road in recent weeks, Wainman had this to say on the matter. (8:56)

He said: “The figures that are getting mentioned, £20m, £25m, £30m, £35m, for me, Damsgaard doesn’t make the move.

“Out of all the wingers that we’ve been linked to, Damsgaard would be the one for me, even over Mateus Cunha, 21-year-old, this kid will go to the very top, the very, very top. I just don’t see that move to Leeds United, but listen, if the links are genuine, and there is something in that then Victor Orta, you know, maybe he’s over in Denmark now, maybe he’s frying up some Danish bacon and trying to convince Mikkel Damsgaard to come to Leeds United I don’t know, fingers crossed.

“I mean, I don’t think [he will], but you never know.”

Damsgaard signed to Sampdoria back in September last year from Danish club FC Nordsjaelland for a reported fee of €7m.

Since then, the 21-year-old, who is currently valued at £11.7 million according to Transfermarkt, has made 37 appearances for the Serie A side across all competitions in which he has managed to score two goals and provide four assists along the way.

TIF Thoughts on Joe Wainman’s comments on a potential Leeds move for Damsgaard…

The Dane certainly had an impressive summer, earning a very respectable rating of 7.28/10 for his performances for Denmark in the European Championships, indeed he was their joint second-highest rated player for the tournament according to WhoScored, and so it’s not wonder why Leeds would want to make a move for him.

Do you think Leeds should try and sign Damsgaard this summer?

Yes

No

In our view, given how Leeds only have Jack Harrison in their squad that predominantly plays on the left-wing, perhaps adding Damsgaard to their squad this summer as a backup option for Harrison could be a good bit of business if they can pull it off, despite the supposed hefty transfer figures that Wainman spoke about in his video.
