Fulham fans have been reacting on Twitter to the latest transfer news and rumours that surround the Cottagers.

This comes as the Sunday Mirror’s Darren Witcoop tweeted suggesting that Fulham’s new manager Marco Silva is a ‘big fan’ of Watford midfielder Will Hughes, suggesting that Silva may be interested in bringing Hughes to Fulham this summer.

Fulham fans were quick to give their views on the rumour, as it was also suggested that if it was to happen, it may be a sign that Tom Cairney is Sheffield United-bound…

“Cairney is a legend but he’s never been the same player since the injuries in our first promotion season. He’s been richly rewarded by the club and right now he’s being overpaid in terms of what he gives you on the pitch. If we can move on from that contract we probably should.”

Judging by the response to the tweet, many fans of the Whites don’t believe that this deal will be done. Fans also seem split on the situation regarding Cairney, with one fan suggesting that ‘in no uncertain terms’ should the Fulham captain be allowed to leave.

30-year-old Cairney was absent for 25 games for the team last season through a knee injury, and since Fulham’s relegation to the Championship, the skipper has been linked with a reunion with his former manager, Slavisa Jokanovic.

If Cairney is allowed leave to join up with his old boss at the Blades, it seems as though Silva may turn his attentions to Hughes. The 26-year-old midfielder scored twice in 31 appearances for Watford last season. However, it may not be easy for Fulham to persuade Hughes to join the club, with Premier League side Aston Villa also reportedly interested in the midfielder.
