Sheffield Wednesday fans have been reacting to the latest transfer rumours surrounding the Owls.

This comes after Wednesday writer Dom Howson tweeted an article suggesting that the club are interested in Middlesbrough midfielder Lewis Wing.

Wednesday fans were quick to respond to the tweet, and weren’t shy when sharing their feelings on the link…

“Good player. Would like to see him at Hillsborough. I just can’t see us getting anybody to come to us while finances are sorted properly.”

“Would be very nice but I won’t hold my breath. I expect he’ll have much interest from teams better placed than us.”

Judging by the responses to the tweet, Wednesday fans would be happy if the club were to sign Wing.

Wing spent the latter half of the season on loan at Rotherham United, where he played 20 games in the Championship, scoring two times and providing two assists.

One of Wing’s goals for Paul Warne’s side was a spectacular volley on the final day of the season, which unfortunately wasn’t enough to keep the Millers in the Championship. Wing received a WhoScored rating of 7.11 for his performances for Rotherham this season and was awarded man of the match on 3 occasions.

The 26-year-old joined Boro in 2017 from Northern Premier League side Shildon on a free transfer and can play any role in central midfield, and is described by WhoScored as a player who is very strong at long shots and free-kicks.

Wing’s current contract runs out next summer so Boro may look to move him on before he becomes available for free but with Sheffield Wednesday’s current financial problems off the field, will they be able to afford the 26-year-old?
