Sheffield Wednesday face uncertain times off the field at the moment but what is certain after the fixtures were released is that the Owls will begin life in League One with a trip to Charlton Athletic before hosting Darren Moore’s former club Doncaster Rovers for the club’s first home fixture back in the third tier of English football.

On Boxing Day, the Owls welcome Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink’s Burton Albion to Hillsborough and travel to Shrewsbury for New Year’s Day.

The final game of the season for the Owls is a home game against Portsmouth which follows a trip to Wycombe, in what could be a tricky end to the season for Wednesday.

It seems there is some anticipation ahead of the new season, but it is clear that last season’s relegation is still fresh in the minds of the supporters.
