Charlton fans have been reacting on Twitter to the latest news regarding their football club.

This comes after South London Press journalist Richard Cawley tweeted a link to a London News Online article, which breaks the news that Nigel Adkins has said that all of Charlton’s out-of-contract players have told him they want to remain at the club.

This was picked up on by Charlton fans, who weren’t shy to express their feelings on the situation…

Shame that means nothing as they haven’t signed. There is a reason for that. #cafc

Judging by the responses to the tweet, not many fans are optimistic, despite one fan claiming it was ‘great news.’

As many as six first-team players – including skipper Jason Pearce – are due to become free-agents from the start of next month, so you can see why there was a cause for concern.

The news comes as top scorer Chuks Aneke, who scored 16 goals for the Addicks last term, has been linked in the last couple of weeks to a whole host of Championship clubs, with ‘half a dozen’ second-tier clubs reportedly interested in the Charlton striker, who came through Arsenal’s academy.

Realistically, the Charlton fans are right that this means nothing in essence, with the players still yet to actually sign contracts and a few weeks to do so – but fans can be hopeful in knowing that the players want to stay at The Valley.
