Celtic fans on Twitter have been sharing their criticism for Hoops attacker Ryan Christie after his latest international appearance for Scotland during their recent 2-0 defeat against the Czech Republic at Euro 2020.

A brace from Patrik Schick secured the victory for the Czechs, leaving Steve Clarke’s side with an uphill task as they look to progress from Group D.

Celtic fans, can you get 8/8 on this quiz on forgotten players? First up: who is this?

During the game, Christie’s performance particularly caught the attention of a lot of Celtic fans, but for all the wrong reasons, with many flocking to Twitter to share their thoughts on the matter.

So, what did these Celtic fans have to say about Christie’s performance for Scotland against the Czech Republic?

“Would be nice if the midfield would turn up? McGinn/Christie non-existent”

@Shindigg67

“Not enough people laughing at the fact Ryan Christie thinks he’s too good for Celtic but was hooked at half time…humiliating”

“David Turnbull, Turnbull is the player Christie thinks he is.”

@LoganF67_

“Team selection has to be looked at. When your starting Ryan Christie and O’Donnell an look at the bench it’s criminal. We’re given the weakest of our opponents far too much respect.”

@Acraig_67

“Adams already done more than Christie and Dykes did in the entire first half”

Looking at these tweets from this group of Celtic fans, it appears that they were not impressed with what they saw from Christie during the defeat against the Czech Republic.

With the Daily Record giving the Celtic man a match rating of 5/10 for his performance and saying he had a “frustrating afternoon,” this shows just how much of a disappointing time he had on the pitch before being substituted for Che Adams at half time.

Moving forward, this display from Christie will surely give Clarke some doubt over whether or not he should start the 26-year-old in Scotland’s next match against England on Friday evening.

In our view, perhaps starting Adams ahead of Christie against England could be the way forward for Scotland if Clarke is willing to make the change to his starting XI for the game.
