On the latest edition of The Guardian’s Football Weekly podcast, presenter Max Rushden has been discussing Celtic’s ongoing search for a permanent manager.

The Bhoys had been heavily linked with making former Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe as their new man at Parkhead, however, reports last week suggested talks have since broken down.

Would you be happy with Ange Postecoglou being appointed?

With Howe now seemingly out of the picture, the latest name to be linked with the Celtic vacancy is Ange Postecoglou.

As per the Sky Sports report, the Bhoys are in advanced talks with the former Australia manager and they hope to have a deal concluded by the end of this week.

Discussing the 55-year-old as a potential candidate to fill the vacant role at Parkhead, Rushden had the following to say:

“We have Celtic fans who listen who are worried about Ange Postecoglou coming in and Australian fans who listen to this pod who will tell you he’s [an] absolutely brilliant manager.

“And after the Eddie Howe thing fell apart, he is in line to take the job at Parkhead and he has a very, very good track record does Postecoglou and it could be a very interesting appointment.

“Done incredibly well in Australia, did well with the Socceroos, did well in Japan.”

TIF Thoughts on Postecoglou…

Given Celtic were so heavily linked with Howe, we think the latest reports on Postecoglou may come as a big disappointment to the Celtic fans.

However, it was February when the Bhoys parted ways with Neil Lennon, and although John Kennedy was expected to see the season out as the interim manager, it will have made for an antagonising wait for the Celtic faithful.

Question marks have been put on Postecoglou’s credentials, but will the Celtic fans just be happy to put this manager search behind them and move on?
